R is the primary statistical software used in our introductory statistics course QTM100, the Quantitative Sciences Major, and the joint Applied Mathematics and Statistics major. A free software for statistical computing and graphics, R runs on Windows, Mac, and a variety of UNIX platforms.

The Electronic Data Center was created in 1996 to support faculty and students at Emory University whose research and instruction make use of numeric and/or spatial data. We assist researchers and instructors with locating and accessing data, and with managing and preparing those data for analysis. The EDC site is designed to make quantitative data easily accessible to researchers at Emory University. Visitors to the site may download available data directly to their desktop 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For situations where the data are not available from our collection, we have supplied links to many of the primary quantitative data providers with resources on the internet. If the data are not readily available from our site or others, researchers may contact the Data Center staff about requesting the acquisition of specific data studies. Researchers may also set up an appointment with the EDC staff if they have questions or need guidance in finding useful data sets.
