Can Oxford students complete the Quantitative Sciences major and still graduate on time? The answer is yes, but it will take careful planning both while students are at Oxford and when they arrive on the Atlanta campus.
Currently Oxford campus does not offer at QSS major courses (that is, the required QTM courses in the QSS major - various substantive track courses are offered at Oxford). To ensure Oxford students can comfortably complete the QSS major after their transiton to the Atlanta campus, we recommend taking the following at Oxford:
MATH 111: Calculus I
MATH 112: Calculus II
MATH 211: Multivariable Calculus
MATH 221: Linear Algebra
Taking these four courses will fulfill the Calculus I requirement and will substitute for QTM 120, another required course in the QSS major.
Below we provide a "Major Map", or an example schedule for an Oxford student who wishes to pursue Quantitative Sciences. Here's a PDF version too:
Keep in mind that this major map is an example of the kind of schedule an Oxford student should pursue. Students should not take it as the gospel; every student’s situation is unique. This should be used in conjunction with academic advising. Courses vary in credit, GER tags overlap, and a course may happen to fulfill a major requirement and a continued writing requirement! Refer to Oxford's website for an up-to-date list of program requirements.
