Build Your Brand

It’s never too soon to get ready, so let’s start building your brand.

We’ll walk you through the process of creating the portfolio you’ll need to get the internship, scholarship, or job you want. Oh, and don’t worry if you don’t have any experience yet, we’ll help with that too 😉.

Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day, so we’ll revisit this process many times throughout our journey.

Document Branding: Resumes, Cover Letters & Email Signatures

Dr. Mai Nguyen, a data journalist, presents on preparing technically oriented resumes. The session is geared to help QTM students successfully represent their quantitative capacities within this all-important professional document.

Advisors at the Career and Professional Development Office at the Emory Pathways Center provide resources for building and improving your resumé and cover letters. See their website for further details.

Online Branding: GitHub & LinkedIn

A GitHub portfolio is compulsory in the data science world. It’s how you show potential employers that you have real-world data experience. Whether you’ve only completed QTM 150 or are working on your Honors thesis, take the time to put some of your projects into dedicated repositories on GitHub. Use the GitHub documentation to create an account and get started!
