Students may opt out of the initial summer pre-term class, QTM 501: Mathematical and Statistical Foundations, if they have passed a course (or courses) judged equivalent by the QTM graduate committee, and received at least a B.

The program culminates in a Capstone Research Project that will be co-taught by two of the faculty. Teams of 2-3 students will work with community partners to produce solutions to real data-centered issues.

The degree requires 32-36 credit hours at the 500 level or higher (32 credit hours if students pass out of QTM 501; 36 credit hours if students opt into QTM 501).
